Description

Twisted doughnuts are fluffy, golden treats with a unique shape, perfect for breakfast or snacks. Customize with your favorite toppings for a delightful experience.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 2 tbsp melted unsalted butter
  • 1 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • Vegetable oil for frying


Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm milk, melted butter, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. In another bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and beaten egg. Stir and knead until a soft dough forms.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rest in a warm place for 1 hour, until it doubles in size.
  4. Press down the dough gently to release air bubbles. Knead again until smooth. Cover and let rise for another 30-60 minutes.
  5. Knead again to remove air pockets. Divide into 8 pieces. Roll each into a 10-inch rope, twist and pinch ends.
  6. Place twisted dough on a floured tray. Let rise for 30 minutes, flipping gently after 15 minutes.
  7. Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F. Fry doughnuts for about 5 minutes until golden brown, flipping gently with tongs.
  8. Drain and coat with sugar while warm, or cool and dust with powdered sugar.

Notes

Use warm milk to activate yeast properly. Customize flavors with vanilla or lemon icing.
