Description

A delicious and hearty breakfast casserole combining savory sausage, crispy tater tots, and melted cheese.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb breakfast sausage
  • 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped (optional, for garnish)


Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the breakfast sausage over medium heat until browned and crumbled. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  3. Spread the tater tots evenly in the bottom of the baking dish.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes (if using).
  5. Add the cooked sausage on top of the tater tots, then pour the egg mixture over the sausage and tater tots.
  6. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses evenly on top.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes, or until the eggs are fully set and the cheese is melted and bubbly. Check by inserting a toothpick into the center; it should come out clean.
  8. Garnish with chopped green onions (optional) and serve hot.
