Description

A traditional Italian pizza topped with fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 cup crushed tomatoes
  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tbsp olive oil


Instructions

  1. In a bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water; let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Add flour and salt; mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth; let rise for 1 hour.
  4. Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C).
  5. Roll out the dough and place on a floured pizza stone or baking sheet.
  6. Spread crushed tomatoes over the dough, leaving a small border.
  7. Top with mozzarella slices and drizzle with olive oil.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until crust is golden.
  9. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.

Notes

For a crispier crust, pre-bake the dough for 5 minutes before adding toppings.
