Description
A traditional Italian pizza topped with fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 cup crushed tomatoes
- 8 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced
- Fresh basil leaves
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- In a bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water; let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Add flour and salt; mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth; let rise for 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C).
- Roll out the dough and place on a floured pizza stone or baking sheet.
- Spread crushed tomatoes over the dough, leaving a small border.
- Top with mozzarella slices and drizzle with olive oil.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until crust is golden.
- Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
Notes
For a crispier crust, pre-bake the dough for 5 minutes before adding toppings.
