Ingredients

  • 1 large clear jar with lid
  • Acrylic paint or glow-in-the-dark paint (black, purple, blue, pink, silver)
  • Cotton balls
  • Water
  • Fine glitter (silver, blue, purple, gold)
  • Glow-in-the-dark stars or sequins (optional)
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Glycerin or clear glue (optional)
  • UV flashlight or sunlight

Instructions

  1. Dye your water: In small cups, mix a bit of water with a few drops of glow paint or food coloring.
  2. Stretch and layer cotton: Pull apart cotton balls and stuff a layer into the bottom of the jar.
  3. Add colored/glow water and glitter: Pour one color of your glow water over the cotton until saturated. Sprinkle in glitter and stars. Repeat with a new layer of cotton and a new color.
  4. Seal and decorate: Screw the lid on tightly and optionally hot-glue it shut. Decorate the outside with planet or star stickers.
  5. Charge & display: Charge with a blacklight or under sunlight for a magical night-glow effect!
