Description

Delicious blends of juicy beef patties, creamy cheeses, and sweet caramelized onions, served between warm, buttery Marble Rye bread.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 12 slices Marble Rye bread
  • 3 slices Cheddar Cheese
  • 3 slices Swiss cheese
  • 3 Vidalia onions, sliced thin
  • 8 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup Secret Sauce
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 tsp hot sauce

Instructions

  1. Make the Secret Sauce: In a small bowl, stir together the mustard, mayonnaise, barbecue sauce, and hot sauce.
  2. Prepare the Patties: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Shape the mixture into 6 oval-shaped patties.
  3. Caramelize the Onions: In a skillet, melt the butter and sauté the onions until they are soft and golden brown.
  4. Cook the Patties: In another skillet, cook the beef patties for about 2 minutes on each side until they are brown. Remove them from the skillet and wipe it clean.
  5. Assemble the Melts: Butter the outer sides of the bread and place it butter-side down in the pan. Spoon 1 tbsp of secret sauce on the bread, then top with 3 tbsp of caramelized onions, a slice of cheese, one burger patty, another slice of cheese, more onions, secret sauce, and the other slice of bread.
  6. Grill the Sandwiches: Cook on both sides until golden brown. Repeat with all sandwiches.
  7. Enjoy Your Melts: Serve hot and enjoy the flavors!

Notes

Don’t rush the caramelizing process for the onions; it brings out their natural sweetness. Use fresh ingredients for the best taste.
