A delicious and comforting dish that combines sausage gravy with flaky puff pastry, perfect for breakfast or as a snack.
Ingredients
- 1 lb breakfast sausage
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 package (1 lb) puff pastry, thawed
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a skillet, cook the breakfast sausage over medium heat until browned.
- Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Slowly add the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
- Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Roll out the puff pastry and cut into squares.
- Add a spoonful of the sausage gravy mixture to the center of each square.
- Fold over and pinch the edges to seal.
- Brush the tops with beaten egg.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Serve warm.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes.
