Description

A delicious and comforting dish that combines sausage gravy with flaky puff pastry, perfect for breakfast or as a snack.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb breakfast sausage
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 package (1 lb) puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook the breakfast sausage over medium heat until browned.
  3. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Slowly add the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
  5. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  6. Roll out the puff pastry and cut into squares.
  7. Add a spoonful of the sausage gravy mixture to the center of each square.
  8. Fold over and pinch the edges to seal.
  9. Brush the tops with beaten egg.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Serve warm.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes.
