A comforting dish combining savory sausage gravy and flaky puff pastry, perfect for breakfast or as a hearty snack.
Ingredients
- 1 lb sausage
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 sheet puff pastry
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned.
- Sprinkle the flour over the sausage and stir to combine; cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Gradually add the milk, stirring continuously until the mixture thickens. Season with salt and pepper.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface and cut it into squares.
- Add a spoonful of the sausage gravy mixture to the center of each pastry square.
- Fold the pastry over and seal the edges with a fork.
- Place on a baking sheet and brush with egg wash.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Serve warm.
Notes
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) until warmed through.
