Description
Salisbury Steak is a classic comfort food featuring seasoned ground beef patties served in a rich, savory gravy, perfect for family meals or special occasions.
Ingredients
- 1 10 1/2 ounce can Campbell’s French onion soup, divided
- 1 1/2 lbs ground beef (80/20 blend)
- 1/2 cup dry breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 3 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce, to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 1/3 cup of the French onion soup, ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
- Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions and shape each into an oval patty about 3/4 inch thick.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the patties on both sides (about 2-3 minutes per side) until seared. Remove the patties and pour off excess fat.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the remaining French onion soup, flour, ketchup, water, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard powder until smooth.
- Return patties to the skillet, pour the gravy over them, cover, and simmer on medium-low for 20 minutes until cooked through.
- Serve hot with extra gravy, paired with mashed potatoes, buttered noodles, or roasted vegetables.
Notes
Make sure not to overmix the beef mixture to keep the patties tender. Customize with chopped onions or mushrooms for added flavor.
