Description

A fun and colorful science experiment that creates mesmerizing visual effects using layers of liquids and Pop Rocks.

Ingredients

  • 1 clear plastic bottle or jar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Vegetable oil (enough to fill the rest of the bottle)
  • Food coloring (multiple colors for rainbow layers)
  • 1 teaspoon glitter (optional, for sparkle)
  • 1 pack of Pop Rocks candy (any flavor or color)
  • Funnel (optional, for easier pouring)
  • 1 tray or towel (to protect surfaces)

Instructions

  1. Pour about 1/2 cup of water into the clear plastic bottle.
  2. Add a few drops of different food coloring to create layered rainbow colors without mixing too much.
  3. Sprinkle in glitter to add sparkle to the bubbling effect.
  4. Slowly fill the bottle with vegetable oil, leaving a little space at the top, allowing the water and oil to separate completely.
  5. Quickly drop a spoonful of Pop Rocks into the bottle and watch the fizzy, bubbling rainbow show.
  6. Add more Pop Rocks in small amounts as the fizz fades for continued fun.

Notes

Use a funnel when pouring to avoid spills. Adjust the amount of Pop Rocks for a stronger or milder fizz.
