Description

Create fun and colorful Rainbow Lava Lamps with Pop Rocks for a fizzy surprise that’s great for parties or a fun afternoon activity.

Ingredients

  • 1 clear bottle (with a tight-fitting lid)
  • Vegetable oil (or baby oil)
  • Water
  • Food coloring (in rainbow colors)
  • Pop Rocks (any flavor, for fizz)
  • Glitter (optional, for sparkle)
  • Alka-Seltzer tablets (optional, for an extra fizz)
  • Funnel (optional, for easy pouring)

Instructions

  1. Fill the bottle about 3/4 full with vegetable oil or baby oil.
  2. Fill the remaining space in the bottle with water, leaving a small gap at the top for the oil and water to separate.
  3. Drop several colors of food coloring into the water to create a vibrant rainbow effect.
  4. (Optional) Add a pinch of glitter to the water for a sparkly texture.
  5. Break an Alka-Seltzer tablet into smaller pieces and drop them into the bottle to create bubbles.
  6. Add Pop Rocks for extra fizz and bubbling effect.
  7. Seal the bottle tightly, optionally gluing the lid for security.
  8. Gently shake the bottle to mix the colors and bubbles. Enjoy your Rainbow Lava Lamps!

Notes

Use clear bottles for the best visibility of colors. Experiment with different food coloring combinations and adjust Pop Rocks for varying fizz levels.
