Description

A fun and educational science experiment demonstrating cloud formation and rain.

Ingredients

  • 1 clear glass jar or cup
  • Shaving cream (foam type)
  • Water
  • Blue food coloring
  • Small bowl or cup for mixing dye
  • Dropper or spoon

Instructions

  1. Fill the jar about 3/4 full with water to represent the atmosphere.
  2. Gently spray a generous amount of shaving cream on top of the water to form a fluffy cloud.
  3. In a small bowl, mix a few drops of blue food coloring with a bit of water to create your ‘rainwater.’
  4. Using a dropper or spoon, slowly drip the colored water onto the top of the shaving cream.
  5. Watch as the colored water seeps through the shaving cream, resembling rain falling from clouds into the water below.

Notes

Use a clear jar for the best view and experiment with different colors of food coloring. Cover with plastic wrap or a lid if you want to store it.
