Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, beat eggs and sugar until pale and fluffy.
  3. Add vegetable oil, buttermilk, and vanilla extract to the mixture.
  4. In another bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until combined.
  6. Pour the batter onto the prepared baking sheet and spread evenly.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Allow to cool slightly, then roll the cake with the parchment paper from one end to the other.
  9. Let it cool completely before filling with your desired frosting or cream.
  10. Once filled, roll it back up, slice, and serve.
