  • Vinegar (1–2 cups)
  • Food coloring (variety of colors)
  • Glitter or biodegradable confetti (optional)
  • Squeeze bottles

Instructions

  1. Head outside and choose a play area with grass or a flat surface for setting up your experiment.
  2. Arrange large trays or bins to catch any spills during the experiment.
  3. Fill squeeze bottles or cups with vinegar, adding a few drops of different food coloring to create various colors.
  4. Place baking soda in separate bowls or bins for easy access. Optionally, mix in glitter or biodegradable confetti.
  5. Allow kids to roam and collect natural materials like leaves, flower petals, twigs, etc., for their potions.
  6. Have kids scoop baking soda into their chosen containers and add their collected natural items.
  7. Once potions are created, have them slowly pour or squirt the colored vinegar into the containers with baking soda.
  8. Observe the fizzy reaction and encourage experimentation with different color combinations and materials.
