Description

A comforting dish of juicy meatballs in a rich, creamy mushroom gravy, perfect for family dinners.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/3 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons flour


Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and egg until well combined.
  2. Form the mixture into meatballs.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and brown the meatballs on all sides. Remove the meatballs and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, melt the butter and add the mushrooms and diced onion. Cook until softened.
  5. Sprinkle the flour over the mushrooms and onions, stir to combine, and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  6. Gradually add the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens.
  7. Return the meatballs to the skillet, cover, and simmer on low heat for 10 minutes or until the meatballs are cooked through.
  8. Season the gravy with salt and pepper to taste.

Notes

Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles. Garnish with fresh parsley.
