Description

A soothing blend of lavender and oatmeal that cleanses and nourishes the skin.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of oatmeal
  • 1 cup of olive oil
  • 1 cup of coconut oil
  • 1/2 cup of lye
  • 1 cup of water
  • 20-30 drops of lavender essential oil
  • Lavender flowers (for texture, optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace and wear protective gear.
  2. In a well-ventilated area, mix the lye with water carefully to avoid burns, letting it cool.
  3. In a large pot, melt the olive and coconut oil together.
  4. Once the oils and lye are at similar temperatures, slowly combine them, stirring gently.
  5. Add the oatmeal and lavender essential oil, mixing thoroughly.
  6. Pour the mixture into a mold and let it sit undisturbed for 24-48 hours.
  7. Once hardened, remove the soap from the mold and cut it into bars.
  8. Allow the bars to cure in a cool, dry place for 4-6 weeks before using.

Notes

Always wear gloves and goggles when working with lye. For a smoother texture, blend the oatmeal before adding it to the mixture.
