A comforting casserole that combines cabbage, ground beef, and rice, smothered in savory tomato sauce—perfect for family dinners.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 3 1/2 pounds chopped cabbage
  • 1 (29-ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup uncooked white rice
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 (14-ounce) cans beef broth


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat, cooking for about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess grease.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine chopped cabbage, tomato sauce, chopped onion, uncooked rice, salt, and cooked ground beef. Mix thoroughly.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a 9×13 inch casserole dish and spread it out evenly.
  5. Pour the beef broth evenly over the top of the casserole.
  6. Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour.
  7. Remove from the oven, stir gently, re-cover, and bake for another 20-30 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender and the rice is fully cooked.
  8. Let it rest for 5-10 minutes before serving hot.

Notes
