Description

A comforting dish featuring juicy beef patties with a rich, savory gravy made from sautéed onions and mushrooms, perfect for busy weeknights or family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs ground beef (80/20)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Form the ground beef into patties and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Cook the patties in the skillet until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes on each side.
  4. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and mushrooms, and sauté until softened.
  6. Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, scraping up any browned bits.
  7. Optionally, mix cornstarch with a little cold water and add to the gravy to thicken.
  8. Return the patties to the skillet, cover with gravy, and cook for a few more minutes.
  9. Serve hot with mashed potatoes or rice.

Notes

Avoid overcrowding the skillet to ensure even cooking of patties. You can enhance the gravy with garlic powder or herbs.
