Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs ground beef (80/20)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tbsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
- Form the ground beef into patties and season with salt and pepper.
- Cook the patties in the skillet until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes on each side.
- Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and mushrooms, and sauté until softened.
- Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, scraping up any browned bits.
- Optionally, mix cornstarch with a little cold water and add to the gravy to thicken.
- Return the patties to the skillet, cover with gravy, and cook for a few more minutes.
- Serve hot with mashed potatoes or rice.
Notes
Avoid overcrowding the skillet to ensure even cooking of patties. You can enhance the gravy with garlic powder or herbs.
