Description

A delightful dessert that combines creamy sweet potatoes with warm spices, creating a nostalgic favorite perfect for holidays and family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups mashed sweet potatoes (about 2 large sweet potatoes)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 unbaked pie crust (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Boil the sweet potatoes until tender, then peel and mash them until smooth.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed sweet potatoes, granulated sugar, brown sugar, milk, and melted butter. Mix well.
  4. Add the eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt to the bowl. Stir until everything is well combined and smooth.
  5. Pour the sweet potato mixture into the unbaked pie crust, spreading it evenly.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the pie is set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the pie cool for a bit before serving. Enjoy it warm or chilled, possibly with a dollop of whipped cream.

Notes

Use ripe, fresh sweet potatoes for the best flavor. Adjust the spices to taste and consider using a store-bought pie crust for convenience.
