Description
A delightful twist on the classic German chocolate cake, this poke cake is creamy, moist, and filled with a rich caramel mixture.
Ingredients
- 1 box of German chocolate cake mix
- 1 1/2 cups of water
- 1/2 cup of vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 1 can of sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup of caramel sauce
- 1 cup of chopped pecans
Instructions
- Preheat the oven according to the cake mix instructions.
- In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until smooth.
- Pour the batter into a prepared baking dish and bake according to the package instructions.
- Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool slightly.
- Use the end of a wooden spoon to poke holes all over the cake.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the sweetened condensed milk and caramel sauce.
- Pour the caramel mixture over the cake, making sure it fills the holes.
- Top with chopped pecans.
- Let the cake cool completely, then refrigerate for at least an hour before serving.
Notes
For best flavor, use fresh pecans. Can be served with vanilla ice cream.
