German Chocolate Poke Cake

Description

A delightful twist on the classic German chocolate cake, this poke cake is creamy, moist, and filled with a rich caramel mixture.


Ingredients

  • 1 box of German chocolate cake mix
  • 1 1/2 cups of water
  • 1/2 cup of vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 can of sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup of caramel sauce
  • 1 cup of chopped pecans


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven according to the cake mix instructions.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until smooth.
  3. Pour the batter into a prepared baking dish and bake according to the package instructions.
  4. Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool slightly.
  5. Use the end of a wooden spoon to poke holes all over the cake.
  6. In a separate bowl, mix together the sweetened condensed milk and caramel sauce.
  7. Pour the caramel mixture over the cake, making sure it fills the holes.
  8. Top with chopped pecans.
  9. Let the cake cool completely, then refrigerate for at least an hour before serving.

Notes

For best flavor, use fresh pecans. Can be served with vanilla ice cream.
