Description
A comforting dish with tender beef bites and fluffy creamy mashed potatoes, perfect for family dinners or special occasions.
Ingredients
- 1 lb beef sirloin or tenderloin, cut into bite-sized pieces
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil or butter for searing
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves or 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- Optional: Splash of Worcestershire sauce or red wine
- Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish
- 4 medium Yukon Gold or Russet potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1/2 cup heavy cream or whole milk
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter (for mashed potatoes)
- Salt and pepper to taste (for mashed potatoes)
- Optional: 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese or sour cream
Instructions
- For the mashed potatoes, place the peeled and cubed potatoes in a large pot of salted water and bring to a boil. Cook for 15-20 minutes or until fork-tender. Drain and return to the pot. Add heavy cream, butter, salt, and pepper, then mash until smooth. Stir in cheese or sour cream if desired and keep warm.
- For the beef bites, pat the beef dry and season with salt and pepper. Heat olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add beef bites in a single layer, searing for 2-3 minutes per side until browned and cooked to your desired doneness. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
- Serve beef bites over a generous scoop of creamy mashed potatoes and drizzle additional garlic butter sauce on top if desired.
Notes
For creamier potatoes, use a potato ricer for mashing. Adjust garlic and herbs to taste.
