Description

A comforting dish with tender beef bites and fluffy creamy mashed potatoes, perfect for family dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin or tenderloin, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter for searing
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves or 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • Optional: Splash of Worcestershire sauce or red wine
  • Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish
  • 4 medium Yukon Gold or Russet potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream or whole milk
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter (for mashed potatoes)
  • Salt and pepper to taste (for mashed potatoes)
  • Optional: 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese or sour cream

Instructions

  1. For the mashed potatoes, place the peeled and cubed potatoes in a large pot of salted water and bring to a boil. Cook for 15-20 minutes or until fork-tender. Drain and return to the pot. Add heavy cream, butter, salt, and pepper, then mash until smooth. Stir in cheese or sour cream if desired and keep warm.
  2. For the beef bites, pat the beef dry and season with salt and pepper. Heat olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add beef bites in a single layer, searing for 2-3 minutes per side until browned and cooked to your desired doneness. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
  3. Serve beef bites over a generous scoop of creamy mashed potatoes and drizzle additional garlic butter sauce on top if desired.

Notes

For creamier potatoes, use a potato ricer for mashing. Adjust garlic and herbs to taste.
