Description

Crispy, sweet apple rings coated in cinnamon sugar, perfect for snacking or dessert.

Ingredients

  • 4 medium apples (such as Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Golden Delicious)
  • Vegetable or coconut oil, for frying (about 2–3 cups)
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 large egg
  • 3/4 cup whole or 2% milk
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1 cup + 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp fine sea salt

Instructions

  1. Core the apples and slice them crosswise into 1/4-inch thick rings, removing seeds.
  2. Pour oil into a skillet to a depth of 1 inch and heat over medium-high until it reaches 365°F (185°C).
  3. In a bowl, mix 1/3 cup sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon for the coating.
  4. In another bowl, whisk the egg, then add milk and optional vanilla, whisk until blended.
  5. Sprinkle flour, 2 tbsp sugar, baking powder, and salt over wet ingredients and whisk until smooth.
  6. Dip each apple ring into the batter, letting excess drip off, and fry in hot oil for 1–2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  7. Remove fried rings and drain on paper towels; toss in cinnamon-sugar mixture until well coated.
  8. Serve immediately for the best taste.

Notes

Serve warm on their own or with vanilla ice cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature, reheat to regain crispness.
