Description
Crispy, sweet apple rings coated in cinnamon sugar, perfect for snacking or dessert.
Ingredients
- 4 medium apples (such as Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Golden Delicious)
- Vegetable or coconut oil, for frying (about 2–3 cups)
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 large egg
- 3/4 cup whole or 2% milk
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract (optional)
- 1 cup + 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp fine sea salt
Instructions
- Core the apples and slice them crosswise into 1/4-inch thick rings, removing seeds.
- Pour oil into a skillet to a depth of 1 inch and heat over medium-high until it reaches 365°F (185°C).
- In a bowl, mix 1/3 cup sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon for the coating.
- In another bowl, whisk the egg, then add milk and optional vanilla, whisk until blended.
- Sprinkle flour, 2 tbsp sugar, baking powder, and salt over wet ingredients and whisk until smooth.
- Dip each apple ring into the batter, letting excess drip off, and fry in hot oil for 1–2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Remove fried rings and drain on paper towels; toss in cinnamon-sugar mixture until well coated.
- Serve immediately for the best taste.
Notes
Serve warm on their own or with vanilla ice cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature, reheat to regain crispness.
