Description

A fun and educational craft activity that combines art and science using baking soda and vinegar to create fizzy, colorful artworks.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 2-4 tablespoons water
  • A few drops of food coloring
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar
  • Thick white paper, cardstock or watercolor paper

Instructions

  1. In each small bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of baking soda with 1-2 teaspoons of water. Add food coloring and stir well until spreadable.
  2. Place a sheet of paper on a tray and set out the fizzy paints, brushes, and vinegar.
  3. Apply the baking soda paint to the paper to create designs, splatters, or globs of color.
  4. Apply vinegar to the painting and watch the colors foam, bubble, and fizz.
  5. Allow the artwork to air dry.

Notes

Use different colors of food coloring for vibrant paintings and experiment with water amounts for different paint consistencies. Try different types of paper for varied absorption effects.
