Description
A fun science experiment combining baking soda and vinegar to create a colorful volcanic eruption.
Ingredients
- Clear glass jar with lid
- 2 tablespoons baking soda
- 1/2 cup vinegar
- Various colors of food coloring
- 1 tablespoon dish soap
- Small mixing bowls
- Craft sticks or spoons for stirring
Instructions
- Place baking soda into the bottom of the jar.
- In separate small bowls, mix vinegar with different food coloring drops.
- Slowly pour one colored vinegar mixture into the jar over the baking soda.
- Watch as the mixture fizzes and bubbles, creating a colorful eruption.
- Add more baking soda and pour in other colored vinegar mixtures to continue the eruption in different colors.
Notes
Perform the experiment outdoors or on a tray to catch any overflow. Supervision is recommended for children.
