Description

A fun and easy science experiment that creates a colorful display of swirling colors, mimicking real fireworks.


Ingredients

  • 1 clear glass jar with lid
  • Warm water
  • Clear school glue or liquid starch
  • Vegetable oil or baby oil
  • Food coloring (red, blue, yellow, green)
  • Alka-Seltzer tablets or fizzing bath bombs (broken into small pieces)


Instructions

  1. Fill the jar about halfway with warm water.
  2. Stir in a few tablespoons of clear school glue or liquid starch until well mixed.
  3. Slowly pour vegetable oil or baby oil into the jar to fill the rest, leaving a small gap at the top.
  4. Drop in a few drops of different food coloring to create colorful layers.
  5. Drop a small piece of Alka-Seltzer tablet or bath bomb into the jar to start the fizzy ‘fireworks’ effect.
  6. Secure the lid tightly and watch the colorful fizzing and swirling fireworks inside your jar!

Notes

Display as a beautiful centerpiece or enjoy in a darkened room for best visual effect. You can also create multiple jars with different color combinations.
