Description
A fun and easy science experiment that creates a colorful display of swirling colors, mimicking real fireworks.
Ingredients
- 1 clear glass jar with lid
- Warm water
- Clear school glue or liquid starch
- Vegetable oil or baby oil
- Food coloring (red, blue, yellow, green)
- Alka-Seltzer tablets or fizzing bath bombs (broken into small pieces)
Instructions
- Fill the jar about halfway with warm water.
- Stir in a few tablespoons of clear school glue or liquid starch until well mixed.
- Slowly pour vegetable oil or baby oil into the jar to fill the rest, leaving a small gap at the top.
- Drop in a few drops of different food coloring to create colorful layers.
- Drop a small piece of Alka-Seltzer tablet or bath bomb into the jar to start the fizzy ‘fireworks’ effect.
- Secure the lid tightly and watch the colorful fizzing and swirling fireworks inside your jar!
Notes
Display as a beautiful centerpiece or enjoy in a darkened room for best visual effect. You can also create multiple jars with different color combinations.
