A fun and colorful science experiment that creates a mini fireworks display in a jar using simple ingredients.
Ingredients
- 1 clear glass or plastic jar
- Warm water
- Vegetable oil
- Food coloring (multiple colors)
- Glitter (optional)
- Small bowl
- Fork or spoon
Instructions
- Pour warm water into the jar until it’s about 3/4 full.
- In a small bowl, add vegetable oil and several drops of different food coloring colors.
- Use a fork or spoon to gently stir so the food coloring breaks into smaller droplets.
- Slowly pour the oil and food coloring mixture into the jar of warm water.
- As the colored droplets sink through the oil and into the water, watch them burst like fireworks inside the jar!
Notes
Use warm water for better mixing. Experiment with different food coloring combinations and add glitter for added sparkle. Make sure to use a clear jar for best visual impact.
