Description

A fun and colorful science experiment that creates a beautiful display similar to fireworks, perfect for kids and family gatherings.


Ingredients

  • Clear glass or plastic cup
  • Warm water (3/4 full)
  • Vegetable oil (2–3 tablespoons)
  • Food coloring (various colors)
  • Small bowl
  • Fork or whisk


Instructions

  1. Pour warm water into the clear cup until it is about 3/4 full.
  2. In a separate small bowl, pour 2–3 tablespoons of vegetable oil.
  3. Add a few drops of different food coloring into the bowl with the oil, using 4–5 drops per color.
  4. Gently mix the oil and food coloring together with a fork or whisk.
  5. Slowly pour the oil-and-color mixture into the cup of warm water.
  6. Watch as the food coloring sinks and creates beautiful bursts of color.

Notes

After creating the display, dispose of the mixture as it is a one-time event. You can experiment with different oils and colorings for varied effects.
