Description

A classic Arkansas dessert with layers of chocolate, cream cheese, and a pecan crust that will tantalize your taste buds.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup crushed pecans
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whipped topping
  • 1 package chocolate pudding (instant or homemade)
  • Extra chopped pecans for topping
  • Chocolate shavings for garnish


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix crushed pecans, flour, melted butter, and salt to create the crust.
  3. Press the mixture into the bottom of a pie dish and bake for 10-12 minutes until golden. Let cool.
  4. In another bowl, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Fold in 1 cup of whipped topping.
  5. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the cooled crust.
  6. Prepare the chocolate pudding as per package instructions and layer it over the cream cheese mixture.
  7. Top with the remaining whipped topping and sprinkle with extra chopped pecans and chocolate shavings.
  8. Chill the pie for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

Chill each layer before adding the next for best results. This pie is best enjoyed cold and should be eaten within 3-4 days.
