Description

Crispy and savory fritters made with sweet onions and a light batter, perfect for snacking or serving at gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 tsp sugar (optional)
  • Oil for frying


Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, pepper, and sugar.
  2. Add the egg and milk, mixing until combined.
  3. Fold in the sliced onions until coated.
  4. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat, enough to cover the bottom.
  5. Spoon the batter into the skillet, frying in batches for about 2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  6. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels before serving.

Notes

For best results, don’t overcrowd the pan. Salt the fritters while warm for added flavor.
