Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning mix
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 can refried beans
- 1 cup salsa
- 4 oz diced green chiles
- 2 cups Mexican cheese blend, divided
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- Optional toppings: jalapeños, avocado, cilantro
Instructions
- Brown ground beef in a large skillet until no pink remains, about 7 minutes. Break meat into small pieces and pour off excess grease.
- Stir in taco seasoning and 1/4 cup water, and simmer for 3 to 4 minutes until the liquid is absorbed.
- In a large bowl, combine softened cream cheese and sour cream. Blend until smooth, then fold in refried beans, salsa, and green chiles.
- Add garlic powder, onion powder, and 1 cup of cheese to the creamy mixture. Stir gently, then fold in the seasoned ground beef.
- Transfer to a greased 9×9 inch baking dish and spread evenly. Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top.
- Bake uncovered at 350°F for 25 to 30 minutes until the edges are bubbling and the cheese is melted.
- Allow to rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
Use softened cream cheese for a smooth mixture. You can adjust the spice level by using mild or spicy salsa. Experiment with different types of cheese for varied flavors.
