Description

A delicious and hearty dish that brings the fun flavors of taco night to your dinner table in a simple casserole. Perfect for family feasts or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning mix
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 can refried beans
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 4 oz diced green chiles
  • 2 cups Mexican cheese blend, divided
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Optional toppings: jalapeños, avocado, cilantro

Instructions

  1. Brown ground beef in a large skillet until no pink remains, about 7 minutes. Break meat into small pieces and pour off excess grease.
  2. Stir in taco seasoning and 1/4 cup water, and simmer for 3 to 4 minutes until the liquid is absorbed.
  3. In a large bowl, combine softened cream cheese and sour cream. Blend until smooth, then fold in refried beans, salsa, and green chiles.
  4. Add garlic powder, onion powder, and 1 cup of cheese to the creamy mixture. Stir gently, then fold in the seasoned ground beef.
  5. Transfer to a greased 9×9 inch baking dish and spread evenly. Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top.
  6. Bake uncovered at 350°F for 25 to 30 minutes until the edges are bubbling and the cheese is melted.
  7. Allow to rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Use softened cream cheese for a smooth mixture. You can adjust the spice level by using mild or spicy salsa. Experiment with different types of cheese for varied flavors.
