Description

A comforting dish blending rich flavors of Italian sausage and cheese tortellini in a creamy sauce, perfect for family dinners and special occasions.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb Italian sausage
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 (9 oz) package cheese tortellini
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish


Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the Italian sausage over medium heat until browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  3. Stir in the diced tomatoes and heavy cream, bringing the mixture to a simmer.
  4. Add the cooked sausage and tortellini, stirring until well combined and the tortellini is cooked through.
  5. Stir in the shredded mozzarella until melted.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil.

Notes

For added heat, use spicy Italian sausage. You can add spinach or bell peppers for more vegetables.
