A comforting dish blending rich flavors of Italian sausage and cheese tortellini in a creamy sauce, perfect for family dinners and special occasions.
Ingredients
- 1 lb Italian sausage
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 (9 oz) package cheese tortellini
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil for garnish
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook the Italian sausage over medium heat until browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
- Stir in the diced tomatoes and heavy cream, bringing the mixture to a simmer.
- Add the cooked sausage and tortellini, stirring until well combined and the tortellini is cooked through.
- Stir in the shredded mozzarella until melted.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil.
Notes
For added heat, use spicy Italian sausage. You can add spinach or bell peppers for more vegetables.
