Transform old crayons into colorful decorations with these fun and easy Crayon Star Sun Catchers. A great activity to spark creativity while recycling unused crayons.
Ingredients
- Old Crayons
- Wax Paper
- Parchment Paper
- Manual Sharpener or Knife
- Iron
- Star Stencil or Cookie Cutter
- Baker’s Twine
Instructions
- Peel the paper off the old crayons.
- Shave the crayons into tiny bits with a manual sharpener or knife.
- Spread crayon shavings onto a piece of wax paper, mixing colors as desired.
- Fold the wax paper to create an envelope with the crayon shavings.
- Place the wax paper envelope between two sheets of parchment paper.
- Gently iron over the parchment paper on a low heat setting until the crayon shavings melt.
- Allow the creation to cool completely.
- Use a star stencil or cookie cutter to trace stars onto the wax paper.
- Cut out the star shapes using scissors.
- Punch a small hole in each star for hanging.
- Thread each star with baker’s twine and hang them in your window.

Experiment with different shapes and always have adult supervision when using the iron.
