A delicious twist on a classic comfort food, combining the flavors of sloppy joes with cheesy goodness wrapped in warm pizza dough.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 yellow onion, diced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup sloppy joe sauce
- 1 lb pizza dough
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet, cook the ground beef and diced onion over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in the sloppy joe sauce and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface into a rectangle.
- Spoon the beef mixture down the center of the dough, then top with shredded cheddar cheese.
- Fold the sides of the dough over the filling and pinch to seal.
- Place the stromboli seam-side down on a baking sheet.
- Brush the top with beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the dough is golden and cooked through.
- Let cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave.
