Description

A delicious twist on a classic comfort food, combining the flavors of sloppy joes with cheesy goodness wrapped in warm pizza dough.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sloppy joe sauce
  • 1 lb pizza dough
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook the ground beef and diced onion over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in the sloppy joe sauce and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface into a rectangle.
  5. Spoon the beef mixture down the center of the dough, then top with shredded cheddar cheese.
  6. Fold the sides of the dough over the filling and pinch to seal.
  7. Place the stromboli seam-side down on a baking sheet.
  8. Brush the top with beaten egg for a golden finish.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the dough is golden and cooked through.
  10. Let cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave.
