Description
A hearty and comforting dish that combines delicious pasta with savory beef and rich cheese, perfect for family dinners or casual gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 lb rigatoni pasta
- 1 1/2 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and set it aside.
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the rigatoni until just al dente according to package directions, then drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat olive oil and sauté the diced onion until soft, about 3 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
- Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain any excess fat.
- Stir in marinara sauce, heavy cream, Italian seasoning, crushed red pepper (if using), salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5-7 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Add the cooked rigatoni to the skillet and toss until the pasta is well coated in the creamy beef sauce.
- Transfer half of the pasta mixture to the prepared baking dish, sprinkle with half of the mozzarella and Parmesan, then layer the rest of the pasta on top. Finish with the remaining cheese.
- Bake uncovered for 20-25 minutes, until the cheese is melted, golden, and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley and enjoy warm.
Notes
For added nutrition, consider including vegetables like bell peppers or spinach. You can also use different types of cheese for a twist.
