A delicious and comforting casserole that combines pizza flavors with cheesy tortellini, perfect for family dinners or cozy nights.
Ingredients
- 1 package (9 oz) cheese tortellini (fresh or frozen)
- 1 jar (24 oz) pizza sauce
- 1 cup sliced pepperoni
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup shredded Italian cheese blend (optional)
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
- Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the tortellini according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked tortellini, pizza sauce, sliced pepperoni, and half of the mozzarella cheese.
- Add the Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes if using. Stir until evenly coated.
- Pour the tortellini mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Top with the remaining mozzarella cheese and the Italian cheese blend if desired.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired. Serve warm.
Notes
Feel free to add other pizza toppings like bell peppers, mushrooms, or olives. For a healthier version, use whole grain tortellini and turkey or chicken pepperoni.
