Description

Delightful empanadas filled with sweet apples and rich caramel sauce, wrapped in a crispy crust.


Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 cups apples, peeled and diced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 package of empanada dough
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Caramel sauce for drizzling
  • Powdered sugar for dusting


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  3. Add brown sugar and cinnamon, stirring until combined.
  4. Add diced apples and lemon juice, cooking until apples are tender (about 5 minutes).
  5. Roll out the empanada dough and cut into circles.
  6. Place a tablespoon of the apple mixture in the center of each circle and fold over to seal.
  7. Brush the tops with beaten egg.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Drizzle with caramel sauce and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
