Delightful empanadas filled with sweet apples and rich caramel sauce, wrapped in a crispy crust.
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 2 cups apples, peeled and diced
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 package of empanada dough
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Caramel sauce for drizzling
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add brown sugar and cinnamon, stirring until combined.
- Add diced apples and lemon juice, cooking until apples are tender (about 5 minutes).
- Roll out the empanada dough and cut into circles.
- Place a tablespoon of the apple mixture in the center of each circle and fold over to seal.
- Brush the tops with beaten egg.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Drizzle with caramel sauce and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
