Description

Delightful candy-coated apples perfect for fall gatherings and Halloween celebrations.

Ingredients

  • 6 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon black gel food coloring
  • 1/4 teaspoon purple gel food coloring
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon extract (optional)
  • Candy apple sticks

Instructions

  1. Wash the apples thoroughly and dip them in boiling water, then dry completely. Insert candy apple sticks into each apple securely.
  2. In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water over medium heat. Stir until sugar dissolves, then increase the heat to medium-high and do not stir again until the syrup reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
  3. Remove from heat and add gel food colorings, vanilla extract, and cinnamon extract if using. Stir gently to incorporate colors.
  4. Quickly dip each apple into the hot candy mixture, swirl to coat, and allow excess to drip off. Place coated apples on a parchment-lined baking sheet to cool for 10-15 minutes.
  5. Serve in cupcake liners or wrap in cellophane for gifts. Store at room temperature, best consumed within 2-3 days.

Notes

Use firm and crisp apples for the best texture. Store candy apples at room temperature, away from moisture.
