Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup melted butter (for brushing)
- Optional: herbs or cheese for added flavor
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the buttermilk until just combined.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently until it comes together.
- Roll out to about 1 inch thick and cut out biscuits with a cutter.
- Place biscuits on a baking sheet and brush the tops with melted butter.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
- Serve warm.
Notes
For best results, use cold butter and do not overmix the dough.
