Description

Deliciously flaky and buttery biscuits perfect for any meal or snack.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter (for brushing)
  • Optional: herbs or cheese for added flavor


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the buttermilk until just combined.
  5. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently until it comes together.
  6. Roll out to about 1 inch thick and cut out biscuits with a cutter.
  7. Place biscuits on a baking sheet and brush the tops with melted butter.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Serve warm.

Notes

For best results, use cold butter and do not overmix the dough.
