Description
A classic Italian-American dish, Baked Ziti with Ground Beef and Ricotta is a hearty pasta bake that combines ziti, ground beef, ricotta, and melted cheese for a comforting meal.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ziti pasta
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the ziti pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic until the beef is browned and the onion is soft, about 5 to 7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir and simmer for 5 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked ziti, beef mixture, ricotta cheese, and half of the mozzarella cheese. Mix well.
- Pour the mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 to 15 minutes until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
- Let cool slightly before serving. Garnish with fresh basil if desired.
Notes
Leftover Baked Ziti can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 to 4 days or frozen for longer storage. Cook the pasta just until it’s al dente to prevent it from becoming too soft during baking.
