Ingredients
- 2 large sweet onions, finely chopped
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 cup shredded cheese (e.g., cheddar)
- 1 tsp baking powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the chopped onions, flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
- Stir in the shredded cheese until well combined.
- Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
- Drop spoonfuls of the onion mixture into the hot oil and fry until golden brown on both sides.
- Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot as a snack or appetizer.
Notes
Best served hot. Can be enjoyed plain or with dipping sauces like ranch or marinara. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days.
